History
Mohamad Hajjo opened the first workshop in Homs in 1960, the first garment manufacturer in the city, and the work was contract tailoring from the beginning: cutting and making to another house’s pattern, under another house’s name.
Today two plants, Obour City in Cairo and Homs, work to the same specification: 13,500 m² and 650 people in Homs, 5,000 m² and 350 in Obour.
Garments have been made here for Pellini, GK (George Kordahi), Cougar, Ramsey, KIP, Naga Homme, Kenzo Homme, Corneliani, United Colors of Benetton, Loris Azzaro, Ted Lapidus, Mabro, Stefanel, Pierre Cardin, Pierre Balmain, Daly Dress, Arrow 1851, Bellucci and Emporio Uomo, as well as for Hajjo 1991.
The way of making
Suits and tailored jackets built to a client’s specification: fused, half canvas or full canvas. Homs builds all three; Obour builds fused. Fused takes a woven fusible with a poly or viscose lining, half canvas a horsehair chest with a viscose lining, and full canvas a full canvas with a hand set shoulder. Most volume runs at half canvas.
Send a tech pack with measurements, size chart, cloth, construction, quantities per size, labels and a delivery date. A sample follows within three weeks, production in one to three months.
Suits, blazers, coats, formal trousers, linen trousers, tuxedos, overshirts with buttons or zips, and matching sets of overshirt and trouser, in your own label from 200 pieces a design. Buttons, adjusters and every detail can be changed, sampled and tested to the tech pack. Kids suits for ages six to fourteen follow the same rules. No knitwear, no denim, no casual outerwear.
Orders are invoiced in Egyptian pounds, euros or dollars.

On the floor at Obour: Dürkopp Adler sleeve setting, sleeve support, welt pocket and eyelet buttonhole machines, an AMF Reece eyelet buttonholer and a Pfaff front edge machine; a Veit Fuse Master continuous fusing press and Rotondi Cavadore sleeve presses; Juki lockstitch lines; and a plotter and digitizer in the cutting room.
